Spice Room

The Spice Room is a sensory journey through Sri Lanka’s fabled spice heritage. Named for the cinnamon, cardamom, and clove that have drawn travellers to this island for centuries, the room’s design weaves rich saffron yellows, deep cinnamon browns, and burnished copper accents into an atmosphere of warmth and exotic refinement. Hand-blocked textile panels on the walls tell the story of the ancient spice routes that passed through these very shores.

A queen-size bed dressed in the softest cotton sits at the room’s centre, while a complimentary aromatherapy diffuser fills the air with the subtle fragrance of locally distilled essential oils — lemongrass in the morning, cinnamon leaf in the evening. An in-room espresso machine offers single-origin Ceylon coffee at your fingertips, perfect for savouring on the cushioned window seat that overlooks the herb garden below.

Though the Spice Room is one of Villa Verner’s more intimate spaces, it is rich in character and detail. Antique brass fixtures, hand-carved wooden panels, and a collection of vintage spice trade maps give the room a sense of history and place that resonates long after your stay has ended.
